Case Study: United
Group
RAD solutions
has maintained a commercial relationship with the
United Group
since 1999. Among its lines of business, United Group is
one of Australias leading business process
outsourcing providers.
RAD solutions
initial project for United was to develop and implement a work effort
measurement application. Though there were generic
products on the market, United required an application that was
flexible enough to meet existing intrinsic requirements and
capable of rapidly adapting to business development and growth. RAD
solutions delivered a database application around the
requirement for an interface to enable United personnel to
efficiently and effortlessly classify and record
work effort. This was combined with a
comprehensive suite of presentation-quality on-demand detail and
statistical reporting options. The application, dubbed
Methuselah, was successfully deployed at United
offices in Melbourne, Canberra & Wellington (NZ) and rapidly
transformed the way the business measured and charged for work
effort on behalf of clients.
In 2001 the United
Group consolidated and converted a number of core data
repository systems (including
Methuselah) to a web browser based
platform in preparation for introducing a client facing
capability via the Internet. RAD solutions successfully
tendered to implement the conversion which involved migration to a
SQL Server database and a recode of all
application interfaces using HTML, VBScript, Java and ASP. The
new suite of applications was
successfully released as an intranet portal under the name
Unifier.
Unifier initially delivered real time read/write data access to
United personnel across its international network of branches
via web browser. In 2003, RAD
solutions partnered with the United Group to release Unifier onto the
Internet and introduce a range of client facing functionalities.
RAD solutions
continues to work with the United Group to maintain the Unifier
portal and ensure that it remains a state of the art application
fully servicing the ongoing and constantly developing
requirements of United clients and personnel.
